Family Networking Opportunities
Family Empowerment, along with Whole Children and Milestones make up the Inclusive Community Center in Hadley, Massachusetts. The active and inviting environment of the center encourages the sharing of experiences among family members. Many families attend center events such as potluck dinners for young adults, where there are casual opportunities to meet parents who may share some of your life experiences. Milestones and Whole Children perform live music and original theater productions throughout the year, all of which provide additional opportunities to meet other families.
If you have been on your journey for a while and have experience advocating for your loved one, we are looking for you! Would you like to help someone else who is just starting on their journey by sharing your knowledge? Contact us at familyempowerment@pathlightgroup.org for more information about becoming a Family Mentor.
Special Needs Family Alliance
We are a group of parents and other concerned caregivers in the Franklin County area who seek to support, educate, and provide resources to each other to improve the quality of our loved ones’ lives and make our journey just a little bit easier!
The group meets twice per month on the first Wednesday evening and the third Thursday morning. See the facebook group or flyer for more details, or email caroline.wenck@pathlightgroup.org.
Self-Direction Focus Group
Please join Pamela Hickey, the Central/West Regional DDS Self Direction Manager, in a discussion about Self- Directed Supports and how this DDS service model can expand choices and control in the supports and services you receive based on your needs, values and preferences. Many people find that managing their own services offers opportunities for creative and individualized activities.
This group is for people who are currently self-directing, and for people hoping to learn more about how it works. Please contact Pam for more information at Pamela.Hickey@state.ma.us. This group meets every other month on the 4th Tuesday.
